How's it going, Ready VIPs? It's BBOP here and I'm with >> JL 5. >> JL 5, the only VIP to have a live interview and a Ready VIP. >> Super excited to talk to you. Jay, how you doing, man? >> I'm doing good. I'm doing good. A little tired [music] from last night, but I'm good. How are you? >> Awesome. I saw him last night at the DJ competition for System Overload. But I mean, it's been a whirlwind since the new year. You played Decadence. >> Yes, I played Decadence. It [music] It was pretty good. It was good set. I had a good time. >> Yeah, I came and saw you. Um I'll definitely post some more footage of it. It was really cool. They had like a huge fog machine rolling in, too. It was like, you know, when I first got [music] up on stage, I was like I I was walking into the festival and I was like, "Oh my god, you can't see." Sinclair was on and I was like, "Oh my god, I can't see him up there." I was like wondering if I'm like not going to be able to DJ and they cut the fog down a little bit and I went up on stage and it it was it was good. >> Yeah, it was crazy. When I first got there, there was a girl doing the uh dragon flag uh flow and there was just billowing smoke around her. So, for that shot, it was amazing. But I was thinking, man, as a DJ, you'd lose the crowd in it. >> Yeah. Yeah. If you can't see everybody and like participate with [music] everyone and see if everybody's vibing, it kind of like defeats the whole purpose. might as well just be like playing Spotify from >> your phone [music] or something. >> That's real, you know, as a DJ being able to feed off the crowd, see what's popping, you know, how they're moving. I think that's really important, >> right? Oh, yeah, for sure. >> So, um, with your set, were there any like favorite songs that you really felt got the crowd moving or like moments you thought were your pop off? >> Yeah. Um, shameless plug, but the Creed flip went off at the very end. That was good. I played the nickel back flip. Um, my kesher flip went pretty well. I had a couple technical things in the beginning that happened, but I ended up coming back super strong. I looked out in the crowd. There was [music] so many people. Everybody was like dancing and singing and it was tons of high energy and I really enjoyed it. >> 2025 was a good year for the flip. I felt like it was really trending and artists were like putting some incredible music out and then here comes JL 5 just like [music] slam dunking some hard stuff. You had the whole crowd move. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Last year was the big year for all the flips. [music] I'm I'm I'm checking threads in Twitter. Everybody's saying like, "Oh, are we doing flips again this year?" And I'm like, "I think we're still doing flips this year." So, I'm excited to [music] be have a small little imprint in the flip dubstep community. But yeah, so [music] >> I saw that, you know, I think uh you were like, I'm just getting good at this. Like, I'm really getting in my my zone. >> Yeah. Yeah. I'm like, okay, [music] I need to keep keep going. I'm still putting out original music, still putting out a debut EP, but I'm keeping the flips and remixes [music] going because you guys really enjoy those. So, let's keep going. >> I can't wait for your debut EP. Do [music] we have any spoilers? Can you tell us anything about it? >> It's a three track drum and bass EP. That's all I can say. I'm working with a couple [music] vocal artists right now. That's all I can really. But yeah, coming out >> very very soon. I'm I'm just trying to lock [music] it. I don't want to like over rush it or overdo it and and not have it be perfect. I've put out music in the past where I wasn't super proud of it and I just wanted music out to have it out, but I'm really trying to stay away from doing that. Like, I'm when it's done, it's done. And if I have to push back the date just a little bit to give you guys something that's really enjoyable, then I'll do that. >> You know, everything you put out so far, I've like made little mini music videos and my stories and like I jam to them all the time. They hit my playlist and I have a special Jaw 5 playlist where I'm like, "Okay, when I need my fix, this is where I go. I can't wait to add some new music to it." >> Yes, let's go. Let's go. >> So, speaking of what's next, um you have Jim and Jam right around the corner. >> I do. Jim and Jam is my first uh festival in Tucson. [music] I'm super excited. Awesome. >> I've been hearing about this festival for such a long time. I've been wanting to go. I heard the community [music] is crazy. Like they're energetic. They love it and like they have a super loyal fan base and I'm stoked. I think I'm one of the only drum and bass people on it. I'm going to be playing drum bass a little bit of dubstep, but I'm keeping it more like chill vibes, whoop vibes, like to kind of go with the flow. And [music] yeah, I'm super excited. >> What's a 174 BPM chill vibe? How does that work? >> Uh, it works. I mean, you have a more like liquid, maybe even like more melodic stuff, but [music] like just I I really want to kind of give maybe more like an undergroundy feel to the drum and bass. I think it would do really well. Or also there's like a lot of drum and bass. They've been like incorporating some more [music] like look dubstep elements into it and so I'm going to be fans of that for sure. >> I do love that. That little sub genre has my heart for sure. >> Yeah. Yeah, for sure. >> Um [music] so Jim and Jam, you're right. It has a um crazy following. I've seen it online quite a The pictures look incredible and it's 3 days of just like, [music] you know, music and vibes. They've got camping, tons of cool stuff to do. Um, is there anything that like, you know, you're really looking forward to to seeing on that? You're like, "Oh, this is me as a fan. I'm going to go show up." >> Um, like low key, I'm really [music] looking for up to just like meeting with a lot of you guys that have been saying that you're going. Uh, I'm meeting up [music] with some of the artists I've been talking to online for years. I've never actually like well I've met up with a couple of them in person [music] but just kind of meeting everybody and yeah shout out Roman and I don't give a for throwing that stage that's >> [music] >> uh super nice of you and I can't wait to play >> super excited for it. I'm hoping to uh media cover it. So there will be a ton of video and pictures [music] and you know recaps coming out so that everybody that is a VIP out there can also participate even if you're not there for Jim and Jim. [music] Uh but definitely go get your tickets. Go check out Jawa. He is on day two. >> Yeah, I'm on day two. I'm on Saturday. I can't get the time slot yet, but I'm playing Saturday and it's going to be a vibe. There's so many [music] great artists playing. We have so much great local talent playing. Also, the headliners as well. Like, I [music] haven't seen anything like this uh in a while here. So, I'm super stoked and I can't wait to see you guys. >> Hell yeah. It's going to be an incredible time. Uh Arizona has one of the best rave scenes, one of the best communities out here. [music] >> And Tucson in and of itself is a gym. It's an art community that really understands um I think what we do and [music] how we do it. So, I'm excited to see all those people out there. I know they make the trek out here to Phoenix to see us all the time. >> Oh, yeah. >> So, we'll be coming and seeing you soon. >> Bye, guys. >> Stay ready, VIPs.
